Theodore Edward Curtis was born September 27, 1873, the son of Theodore Walter Curtis and Flora Lydia Shipp in Wales. He married Bardella Shipp on August 14, 1901 in the Salt Lake LDS temple.  He was a poet and lyricist. He wrote the words for several songs or hymns that appeared in songbooks or collections.  He died October 14, 1957.

It was composed by  Evan Stephens,  June 28, 1854- October 27, 1930

He was one of the directors of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir (now called Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square)  Under Evan Stephens's direction the size of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir increased from 125 members to over 300.

The tune name is Esther
